Prague is the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic and is located on the Vltava River. Prague is widely considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world with many preserved examples of buildings from all periods of history.Since 1992, the historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites.There is much to see and do in Prague and is very popular with tourists particularly as a city or weekend break.Prague Castle is definitely a sight worth seeing- in fact it is hard to miss! Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world measuring 570m in length and an average of about 130m wide. The castle houses several museums such as the Toy Museum, the National Museum and a picture gallery of Prague castle. For those of you that are art lovers should definitely visit. Another sight worth seeing is the Petřínská rozhledna, which is an observation tower on Petřín hill measuring 60m high and made of steel. It resembles the Eiffel tower and from the top you can observe a wonderful panoramic view of the city of Prague. Another popular tourist attraction that can be found in the southern wall of the old town is the Astronomical Clock- The clock is in the old town square and can often become extremely crowded before each hour as the “The Walk of the Apostles” takes place- this is were the figures move from inside the clock face and walk round the front.- get your camera ready! |
