Canada

There is probably no other country in the world that has so much to offer to friends of nature than Canada, Uncle Sam’s little brother to the North. There is a great deal to experience on your long drive through the country’s sweeping landscapes, so many unforgettable images and adventures that will make the memories of your Canadian holiday remain forever: for instance, the moment after your hour-long drive through the thick, dark forests with all its light and shadow play and are suddenly dazzled by glistening sunlight ranging to the horizon, crystal clear lakes, or the breathtaking view of a rainbow that majestically forms under the deafening roar of the Niagara Falls.

There is no question: Canada is the ideal holiday destination for all whose eyes are susceptible to the wonders of nature, people whose hearts melt at the sight of a family of bears on the bank of a giant brook, peacefully lazing in the sun. Whoever is looking to escape today’s hectic living for a few weeks in an almost untouched wilderness, looking for adventure or simply wanting to charge up the batteries, a trip up North is spot on. Canada is particularly favoured among anglers and canoeists on account of its large and fish-filled lakes. Those who are not fans of expansive woodlands can alternatively devote their time to the unending appearance of the Prairie Province’s landscapes and experience the Cowboy outlook on life.

Even for those who aren’t friends of nature Canada is still worth the visit. Those who wish to take a short break from the untouched nature and would prefer to mingle with the locals should leave their lumberjack shirt and walking boots to one side for a moment and make their way to one of the cities. Quebec, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton or Montreal are pulsing metropolises with a unique flair, and a foray into the urban jungle is always a welcome change from the meditative peace in the forests.

A country like Canada is naturally best explored with a hire car, as such fantastic views, which appear during the drive from one highlight to the next, makes all the effort and expenses that you have made for traversing this beautiful country worthwhile. Whether you are there for the intricate streets along one of the two coasts where you can devote yourself to an expedition through the picturesque villages and towns and the unique thrill of going on a whale-watching tour, or decide to go for one of the diverse sights in the heartland, you are left to your own devices. Only one thing is promised: at the end of the trip you will no longer ask why the United Nations has named Canada for the seventh time in a row ‘Country with the highest quality of life’!
