Gorgeous View over Salzburg in Austria

Austria is not only for mountain lovers to explore and take pleasure in, but for everyone who would prefer something different to the standard beach holiday. Austria is known as an Alpine Republic with mostly mountainous regions.

Roughly 60% of this central-European country is characterised by its striking mountains. It is worth travelling through this fantastic setting by car to get to know Austria from a completely different perspective. Enjoy the state of Lower Austria that boarders the Czech Republic, with St. Pölten as its capital.
Get acquainted with the historic centre of this small town of just 108 km² that has retained its baroque atmosphere.
The regions of Lower Austria differ from one another and never let your expedition in the car seem boring. Traverse the splendid wine growing regions and romantic forests. For a different atmosphere visit the nearby Mostviertel south of the Danube, which boarders the Vienna Woods. The name Mostviertal is based on the perfect conditions for the growing of fruit trees in the area which consequently resulted in the must-based economy.

Beautiful View over the Palace in Vienna - Austria

During your drive through this beautiful country you should under no circumstances miss a trip through Burgenland. This is the most easterly lying of Austria state and lets you discover the countryside, of which you will undoubtedly be impressed. Burgenland is split up into the northern and southern regions and the differences in both areas are due to the height. Drive through the northerly and rather flat region with the adjacent Neusieder Lake that tempts you into relaxing by its shore. In Southern Burgenland you will come across an impressive view of the Alps. In the winter months there is an average temperature of -4°C, giving a white-coated view of the Austrian landscape.
For those interested in culture, Austria has a great deal to offer. If you travel through the country by car, you will come across numerous monasteries, castles and old castle ruins: You will feel like you are in the time of kings!
A must-see is the capital Vienna with a multitude of sights to visit. The city itself has 1,670,000 residents. Admire the structures that emanate from all eras. To this day, Vienna is characterised as the imperial city that it once was. The baroque architecture is particularly impressive, as well as the classic buildings. Drive through the city and discover a bizarre contrast to all other buildings: The Hundertwasser House, by the famous architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is quite exceptional.
Austria doesn’t just offer mountains on your drive through the Alpine Republic, making for an exceptional visit whatever your tastes. Have a great time on your trip through this versatile country!
