If you ever happen to visit North of Germany make sure to head to a very unique city in Schleswig-Holstein –Lübeck, a perfect day out adventure for everyone.
In the Middle Ages Lübeck was one of the richest cities in Europe, far more important than its neighbourhood biggest city

-Hamburg. By now it is still one o the major ports in Germany and actually the largest port on the Baltic Sea.

Lübeck attracts visitors from all over the Europe due to its magnificent history, which goes back to the last Ice Age, when the city was settled. Due to its Brick Gothic architectural heritage the city was also placed on UNESCO´s list of World Heritage. Indeed, anyone will appreciate the special beauty of buildings and many old churches in Lübeck even without any special knowledge about its history.

Only in the Old Town tourists can find nearly 2000 listed buildings, historic alleys and winding passages. There you should definitely visit the world-famous Holstentor and the Buddenbrook House, the historical city-hall, and, of course, the well-known Café Niederegger.
What is even more interesting the old part of the town is actually an island enclosed by the Trave, which is connected by the Canal with Elbe River (Elbe-Lübeck Canal).

Nowadays Lübeck is the largest city in Land Schleswig-Holstein and considered by many as the Cultural Capital of the North with over 200,000 inhabitants. It is a very lively city, which offers many attractions for everyone. So if you fancy staying a bit longer there is also plenty to do. Lübeck offers a wide range of museums, shops, theatres, bars and restaurants.
The definite top 10 Things to see and do in Lübeck would be :Holstentor, Dom, Marienkirche, Beach at the Baltic Sea (Travemuende), Christmas Market, Niederegger's Marzipan

Lübeck is a great place to visit in the summer, when you can relax on the beach ( called Travemüende) or take a very popular boat trips.
